Maternal Mental Health

Matrescence is a becoming. It deserves the care of one.

Becoming a mother is one of the most profound identity shifts a human being can go through. There is a name for it — matrescence — and there is skilled psychotherapy for it. This is that work.

I hold space for mothers at every stage: the ones in the sleepless months after birth, the ones deep in the years of toddlerhood, the ones re-meeting themselves as their children get older, and the ones grieving the mother they thought they'd be.

I specialize in supporting Black mothers, who so often carry the additional weight of being expected to be strong, to be capable, to not need care — even in the season when they need it most.

Together we work on nervous system regulation, matrescent identity, birth story integration, postpartum anxiety and depression, the relational shifts inside partnership after a baby, and the slow, patient work of becoming a mother without losing yourself in the process.

What we can work on

Postpartum anxiety & depression

Beyond the checklist — real, integrated care for the mother inside the diagnosis.

Matrescence & identity

Who you're becoming, what you're grieving, and how to make room for both.

Black maternal mental health

Care that holds the fullness of your context, your community, and your body.

Birth trauma & NICU experiences

Integrating what happened without minimizing or being defined by it.

Nervous system dysregulation

For the mother who feels wired, exhausted, and unable to land in her body.

Motherhood & partnership

How the relational contract shifts once a baby arrives — and how to re-negotiate it.

You're allowed to need care too.
